Membership Eligibility
Membership in Special Operations Team Texas shall consist of three categories, with specific qualifications for each. The eligibility criteria for each category are outlined below. Except for voting rights and holding elected positions, which are reserved for Regular Membership only, each category of membership shall have certain privileges. All categories of membership shall be considered current through the payment of annual dues or as Life Members, unless such membership is terminated in accordance with (IAW) this Association’s Bylaws. Rights and privileges of membership include participation in Association events, activities, functions and mailings of Association literature. The Association Membership Committee (MC) is the final approving authority on all applications and reserves the right to determine eligibility and classification of membership.
Regular Members
Regular membership is afforded to any individual who served honorably, or is currently serving, in a U.S. Military Special Operations unit falling under USSOCOM (e.g., 75th Ranger Regt., SF, SFOD-D, 160th SOAR, Navy UDT/SEALs, and AFSOC personnel). To include, but not limited to, USMC Force Recon, 1st Special Service Force, all US Army Ranger and LRRP/LRP/LRS units (with historical lineage to the 75th Ranger Regt), as well as "Individual Rangers" who have successfully graduated from US Army Ranger School and were awarded the Ranger Tab.
Associate Members
Associate membership may be afforded to any member of the Department of Defense who served honorably, or is currently serving. Civilians accredited by the Department of Defense, who accompanied or served in a direct combat role supporting any element listed above, during combat operations, are also eligible. Additionally, membership eligibility is subject to approval based on Foreign Service in Special Operations/Ranger units that supported and/or are allied with the United States Department of Defense.
Lone Star Members
The surviving mother, wife, or family of any qualified member killed in the line of duty, while serving in one of the units listed in above, shall be eligible for Lone Star membership. A Life Membership certificate shall be issued in the name of the deceased qualified member and the Lone Star recipient, jointly.
Membership Dues and Application
- Annual dues = $20.00 for one year Regular and Associate memberships
- Life dues = $200 (four payments of $50 within a 12 month period are accepted) Regular membership only
- Dues must be paid upon applicant approval and renewed annually on 3 October
- Dues are required for all categories of membership, except as noted below:
- Lone Star Members - dues are waived
- The Membership Committee (MC) may award memberships, henceforth waiving the dues requirement, for any individual based upon the merits of contributions toward the better good of this Association.
- All potential members must submit an application to this Association in order to join. Upon receiving the appropriate dues and proof of eligibility, to the satisfaction of the Membership Committee (MC), membership will be granted. When misleading information, falsified documents, or any otherwise wrongdoing is discovered; membership and any dues paid will be forfeit.
